Eligibility and streaming requirements

Eligibility

All Xfinity customers with Xfinity Internet and TV services can use the Xfinity Stream app. Features and content vary depending on your services.

• You need an Apple TV device that meets the Xfinity Stream app system requirements.
• You must have an Xfinity ID and password.
• If you have Xfinity TV service:
  
  • You can watch live TV, DVR recordings and Xfinity On Demand content on your in-home network.
    • The program you want to watch must be on a channel included in your channel lineup.
      • E.g., your channel lineup must include HBO Max for you to watch HBO Max programs.
  • Pay per view (PPV) events aren’t available in the app.

Streaming limit for multiple devices

Xfinity Stream can only be used on so many devices (phone, tablet, laptop or TV) at the same time:

• Five concurrent streams across all account devices if you have Xfinity X1
• Two concurrent streams across all devices if you have Xfinity Instant TV
• One stream across all devices if you have Xfinity On Campus

Create an Apple ID for your Apple TV device

You'll need to create an Apple account and sign in on your compatible Apple TV device before downloading the Xfinity Stream app. Get detailed instructions.

Supported Apple TV devices

The Xfinity Stream app works on any Apple TV device that supports tvOS version 18 or later, including:

• Apple TV 4K (2021)
• Apple TV 4K (2017)
• Apple TV HD (2015)

Activating the Xfinity Stream app

1. Open the app from the Apple App Store and choose Sign in.
   
   
   
2. You’ll see the Activation Code screen on your Apple TV device.
   • Using a different device (such as a mobile phone, tablet or laptop), go to xfinity.com/authorize in your web browser.
   • You can also scan the QR code (on the right) to go directly to the site.
     
     
     
3. Enter the six-digit code from the Xfinity Stream app on your second device (not your Apple TV).
   • If you scanned the QR code, the activation code will already be there.
   • Choose Continue.
     
     
     
4. Type in your Xfinity ID and password to log into your Xfinity account, then select Sign In. 
   
   
   
   • If you already signed in, continue to step five.
5. You'll see a Success! message on your second device.
   
   
   
6. You’ll see the Xfinity Stream main menu.

Now you’re ready to use the app!

Using the Xfinity Stream app

1. When you open the Xfinity Stream app, you’ll see Featured and Trending TV shows on now.
   
   
   
2. Swipe on your Apple TV remote or the remote on your Apple device to scroll through.
3. Press the center to choose an option.
4. You can also swipe left until the navigation bar opens on the left.
5. From here, you can go to:
   • Browse
   • Home
   • Live TV
   • My Library
   • Settings
