How to test Xfinity Home sensors

It's important to regularly test on your Xfinity Home sensors to get the best performance from your system.

What you'll need:

• Xfinity Home Pro Protection or Self Protection 
• Access to your Xfinity Home touchscreen or the Xfinity Home app if you subscribe to Pro Protection
• Access to the Xfinity app if you subscribe to Self Protection
• Access to the sensor that you want to test

Door and window sensors

To ensure your system is working properly, test each door and window sensor once a month and whenever you think a Sensor is not triggering an open/close response.

If you subscribe to Xfinity Home Pro Protection:

1. Make sure your system is disarmed.
2. Open and close each door and window that has a sensor.
3. If the sensor is set up with audible sound, you'll hear it.
   • If audible sound is turned off, you can view the activity using the touchscreen, the Xfinity Home app, or the Xfinity Home app for Xfinity X1.
     
     

If you subscribe to Xfinity Home Self Protection:

1. Open and close each door and window that has a sensor.
2. View the activity using the Xfinity app.

Motion sensors

To ensure your system is working properly, test each motion sensor once a month and whenever you think one isn't detecting motion.

If you subscribe to Xfinity Home Pro Protection:

1. Make sure your system is disarmed.
2. Use the touchscreen to bypass the motion sensor.
3. Make sure there is no movement in the area for two minutes.
4. Walk in front of the sensor, then check your system activity in the Xfinity Home app to see if the motion event was detected.
   
   

If you subscribe to Xfinity Home Self Protection:

1. Make sure there is no movement in the area for two minutes.
2. Walk in front of the sensor, then check for activity in the Xfinity app to see if motion was detected.
