Xfinity Stream app minimum system requirements

Learn which devices are compatible with the Xfinity Stream app, and see the Xfinity Stream app requirements for streaming or downloading programs. Unless stated otherwise, these requirements also apply for accessing NOW TV content.

Note: The Xfinity Stream app is available to all customers with Xfinity service. Features vary depending on your services.

Platform availability

Xfinity Stream is available on:

*Available in-home only to Xfinity TV customers with internet.

Note: LG TVs are not eligible to stream NOW TV content.

Android device requirements

Supported operating systems

To download the Xfinity Stream app in the Google Play Store, your device must be running Android 7.0 or later.

Supported Xfinity Stream app versions

To access and watch all content, Xfinity Stream app version 7.4.1 or later is required. Please visit the Google Play Store to download the latest version.

Amazon Fire device requirements

Supported operating systems

To access and watch 4K content on Amazon Fire devices, Xfinity Stream app version 8.6 or later is required. 

To download the Xfinity Stream app in the Amazon Appstore, your Amazon Fire TV, Fire Stick or tablet devices must be running Fire OS 6 or later.

Supported Xfinity Stream app versions

To access and watch all content, Xfinity Stream app version 7.4.1 or later is required. Please visit the Amazon Appstore to download the latest version.

Apple iPhone or iPad device requirements

Supported operating systems

To download the Xfinity Stream app in the Apple App Store, your device must be running iOS 17.0 or later.

Supported Xfinity Stream app versions

To access and watch all content, Xfinity Stream app version 7.8.0 or later is required. Please visit the Apple App Store to download the latest version.

Apple TV requirements

Supported operating systems

To access and watch 4K content on Apple TV, Xfinity Stream app version 1.10.0 or later is required. 

To add the Xfinity Stream app to your Apple TV, your TV must be running tvOS 18 or later.

Supported hardware device models

  • Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) — 2021
  • Apple TV 4K (1st generation) — 2017
  • Apple TV HD — 2015

LG TV requirements

Supported hardware device models

To access and watch 4K content on LGTVs, Xfinity Stream app version 2.2.5 or later is required. In order for the Stream app to effectively deliver high video quality, it needs to be running on a TV with more than 2 GB of available memory.

Roku TV requirements

Supported operating systems and device models

To add the Xfinity Stream app to your Roku TV, your TV must be running OS 11.0 or later. 

The Xfinity Stream channel will only appear in the Roku channel store for eligible devices. To give customers the best streaming experience, we stopped updating the Xfinity Stream app on 2017 Roku devices in October 2022.

  • Roku TVs: A000X, C000X, 5000X, 6000X, 7000X, 8000X, G000X, D000X
  • Roku Streaming Media Players: 
    • Roku Ultra (4640X, 4660X, 4670X, 4800X), Roku Ultra LT (4662X)
    • Roku Express (3700X, 3900X, 3930X), Express+ (3710X, 3910X, 3931X), Express 4K (3940X), and Express 4K+ (3941X)
    • Roku Premiere (3920X, 4620X) and Premiere+ (3921X, 4630X)
    • Roku 2 (4210X) and Roku 3 (4200X, 4230X)
  • Roku Streaming Sticks: 
    • Roku Streaming Stick (3600X, 3800X), Streaming Stick+ (3810X), Streaming Stick 4K (3820X), and Streaming Stick 4K+ (3821X)
  • Roku Soundbar: 9100X
  • Roku Streambar: 9102X

Samsung TV requirements

Supported operating systems and device models

To access and watch 4K content on Samsung TVs, Xfinity Stream app version 2.2.5 or later is required. In order for the Stream app to effectively deliver high video quality, it needs to be running on a TV with more than 2 GB of available memory.

Xumo Stream Box and Xumo TV requirements

To access and watch 4K content on Xumo Stream Box and Xumo TV, Xfinity Stream app version 2.3.0 or later is required. In order for the Stream app to effectively deliver high video quality, it needs to be running on a device with more than 2 GB of available memory.  

To access and watch all content, Xfinity Stream app version 2.1.0 or later is required.

Note: The Xfinity Stream app will update automatically to the latest version as long as there’s an active internet connection.

Casting requirements

Supported operating systems

You can also cast Xfinity Stream content to any device capable of supporting Chromecast or Apple AirPlay.

The following Chromecast platforms support Xfinity Stream:

  • Chromecast 1st gen, Chromecast 2nd gen, Chromecast 3rd gen
  • Chromecast 4th gen (Chromecast with Google TV)
  • Chromecast Ultra Google Nest Hub

To cast to Apple AirPlay, iOS version 15.0 or above is required.

Streaming and downloading requirements

To stream or download content in the Xfinity Stream app:

  • You must be an Xfinity customer. For more information, see the Xfinity Stream app overview.
  • Your device must have an active internet connection through WiFi or a cellular network to watch live, On Demand, or recorded content. An internet connection is not required for downloaded content.
    • Using a cellular network may incur data charges; check your wireless provider's rate plan for details.
  • To stream in-home live TV, you must be connected to your in-home Xfinity network. Outside of the home, 250+ channels are available to stream.
  • Streaming channels or content may keep using internet data even if you turn off your device. To make sure Xfinity Stream doesn’t continue using your internet when you're not watching, log out of the Xfinity Stream app or portal. 

Unsupported devices

The Xfinity Stream app cannot be installed on the following unsupported devices:

  • Android TV
  • Windows tablets and phones
  • Nook devices
  • Apple Watch
  • Xi5 streaming TV Boxes for Xfinity Flex
  • Chromebooks
  • Other devices not specifically mentioned

International viewing

Xfinity TV programs cannot be streamed outside of the United States. However, programs downloaded to your mobile device can be viewed offline anywhere, even while you're in other countries. Learn more about cloud and Xfinity On Demand content for devices.
