Have you found yourself in a place where you have access to WiFi, but not cellular service? That’s when WiFi calling comes in. It’s a feature on most devices on Xfinity Mobile. It lets you talk and text over a WiFi network if cellular service isn't available.
Why use WiFi calling
- It helps you stay connected in places with weak cell service.
- It’s easy to turn on — no app or login needed.
- Note: You must be in the United States (U.S.) and connected to Xfinity Mobile to set it up.
- It’s great for travel — call and text U.S. numbers for no additional charge from other countries.

WiFi calling helps you stay in touch whether you’re in a building with poor signal or traveling abroad.
Devices with WiFi calling
WiFi calling is available on all devices sold by Xfinity Mobile except for tablets.
To use WiFi calling on an iPhone you must have:
- iOS 11.2 (or higher).

Devices brought to Xfinity Mobile (bring your own device (BYOD)) without WiFi calling
WiFi calling is supported on most devices brought to Xfinity Mobile (BYOD). However, some Android phones may be compatible with our network but not support WiFi calling. If your device falls into this category, we’ll notify you during the compatibility check. Additionally, if you choose to use a phone with limited features, we’ll send a follow-up email to ensure you're aware.
All phones purchased directly from Xfinity Mobile come fully equipped with WiFi calling functionality.

WiFi calling cost
Calling U.S. numbers:
- WiFi calling is available at no extra charge when you call U.S. numbers from anywhere in the world.
- You use WiFi data for WiFi calling. Charges may apply through the WiFi service provider.
- This happens most often when you're in an international location.
- For example, if you're using WiFi that you paid for — like at a hotel — you’ll still use that WiFi data when you make or receive calls using WiFi calling. The minutes don’t cost extra, but the data used during the call will come from the WiFi plan you bought from the hotel.
Calling international numbers:
- If you make a WiFi call to an international number while you are in the U.S., you are billed at international long distance rates.
- Calls to premium numbers are billed separately.
911 calls for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a hearing or speech disability
Due to potential technical limits with TTY calls over WiFi or LTE, Xfinity Mobile recommends that TTY devices not be used to make 911 calls.
Instead, customers can reach 911 by using telecommunications relay services, like IP relay, video relay, or IP captioned telephone service. In areas where texting to 911 is available, customers can text 911 directly from their wireless device or call 911 using real-time text (RTT) on RTT-capable handsets.
