Here are steps to help you activate or remove your WiFi Extenders from your network using the Xfinity app.

Things to know:
- Your gateway must be activated before you can set up WiFi Extenders.
- You won’t be able to manage your internet using the Xfinity app or activate WiFi Extenders if your gateway is in Bridge Mode.
- Extender setup needs a supported mobile operating system.

- Think about where your WiFi Extenders should be placed. They should be in a room halfway between your gateway and an area without coverage.
- Don't plug your WiFi Extenders into power outlets that are controlled by a wall switch.
- Make sure you can see the WiFi Extenders. They should not be blocked by furniture or large objects.
- Don’t place WiFi Extenders near metal objects. They can interfere with the WiFi signal.
WiFi settings
To activate and use your WiFi Extenders:
- Your xFi Gateway must not be in Bridge Mode.
- Your WiFi network must be turned on and broadcasting.
- Your WiFi can’t be turned off through the Gateway’s Admin Tool at http://10.0.0.1.
- You must use one WiFi name and password.
- This means you can’t set separate names or passwords for the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or 6 GHz bands (depending on your gateway model).
- Your network still uses all available bands.
- This setup lets your gateway choose the best connection for each device.

Note: If you change your WiFi network name or password, some devices may ask you to enter the new information before reconnecting.
Activate your WiFi Extenders
- Turn on Bluetooth on your phone (recommended).
- Sign into the Xfinity app.
- Tap the Services tab from the bottom left corner of the app.
- Scroll to the Activate more devices section. Then, tap WiFi Extenders.
- Choose which WiFi Extender you’re installing.
- Tap Get Started.
After you tap Get Started, the Xfinity app guides you through the activation process for all WiFi Extenders you are adding to your home network.
The activation process in the Xfinity app includes:
- Recommendations on where to put your WiFi Extenders.
- Distance to hold your smartphone near your WiFi Extenders for Bluetooth activation.
- Useful tips for your placing and using WiFi Extenders.
- Placement of any other WiFi Extenders you wish to activate.
- Naming your WiFi Extenders.
- Confirmation of successful activation of your WiFi Extenders.
- Once your WiFi Extenders are activated, the light on them should stop flashing and stay off.
If you’re having trouble activating your WiFi Extenders, try restarting your Xfinity Gateway.
Remove your WiFi Extenders
If you're no longer using your WiFi Extenders, plan to return or exchange them, or want to give them to someone else, you should remove them from your home network.
Follow these steps to remove WiFi Extenders using the Xfinity app.
- Sign in to the Xfinity app.
- Go to the WiFi tab.
- Tap View WiFi equipment.
- Select the WiFi Extender you want to remove.
- Tap Device details.
- Tap Remove WiFi Extender.
- When asked, tap Remove.
Repeat these steps if you want to remove other WiFi Extenders from your network.
