Factory reset an Xfinity Gateway (XB2 or XB3)

If you rent an Xfinity XB2 or XB3 Gateway and need to factory reset it, follow these steps. A factory reset will erase your custom settings (like WiFi name and password) and return the device to its original setup.

Note: Your Xfinity Voice service will stop during the reset, but it will come back once the gateway restarts.

Steps to factory reset

1. Find the Reset button — a small hole on the back of the gateway.
2. Use a paperclip or pin to press and hold the button for 30 seconds.
3. Let go of the button. The lights will flash, then turn solid when it’s ready.
4. Reconnect your devices using the default WiFi name and password printed on the label at the bottom of the gateway.
