Pair a light switch or lighting controller with Xfinity Home

Learn how to use your Xfinity Home touchscreen to pair a Light Switch, Lighting/Appliance Controller or Outlet Controller with your Xfinity Home system.

What you'll need

  • Xfinity Home
  • Access to your touchscreen
  • Master Keypad Code

Pairing a light switch or lighting/appliance/outlet controller

  1. Make sure you've installed the light switches and controllers that you want to pair.
  2. On your Home screen:
    • Swipe up to open the dashboard (if applicable), tap the gear icon, then tap Devices.
    • Or, if your touchscreen has apps, tap Settings.
  3. Enter your Master Keypad Code.
  4. On the Categories screen, tap Home Devices.

  5. On the Home Devices screen, tap Lighting.

  6. On the Lighting screen, tap Add Lights.

  7. Make sure that the Light Switch or Lighting/Appliance/Outlet Controller is ready to pair. On a Controller, the LED should be blinking.
  8. When the Light Switch or Controller is ready to pair, tap Next.

  9. When pairing is successful, the Light Switch or Controller appears on the screen. This can take up to five minutes. When all of the Light Switches and Controllers you're pairing appear on the screen, tap Done.
  10. The system tells you how many lighting devices have been paired. Tap Next.

  11. You'll see a list of lighting devices. Tap each device to configure it.
  12. Enter a name for the lighting device that clearly distinguishes it from any other device in your system. If this device controls a dimmable light, tap the Dimmable box. Choose Yes, and then tap Next.

  13. When you're done configuring each device, tap Return to Menu.

Congratulations! You've successfully paired your Light Switch(es) or Lighting/Appliance/Outlet Controller(s). You can now add a rule to control them automatically.
