Learn how to add a camera to your Xfinity Home Security system using the Xfinity app or Xfinity Home app.

Things to know:
- Activate or pair one camera at a time.
- Use only the power adapter that comes with the camera.
- If you use your own modem, router, or another internet provider, set WiFi security to WPA2 + AES.
Before activating your Xfinity Camera
- Identify your camera. Each camera has different activation steps.
- Download the Xfinity app or the Xfinity Home app.
- Use the Xfinity app, if you have Xfinity Smart Home.
- Use either app if you have Xfinity Home.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile device.
- Turn on Location Services so the app can find your camera.
- Choose a spot for your camera.
- The Xfinity Indoor Camera (xCam3) is for indoor use only.
- Plug the camera into the power outlet you plan to use.
- Make sure the outlet is indoors and not controlled by a wall switch.
- Check that WiFi works well where the camera will be placed.
- Run a speed test while connected to WiFi.
- You need at least 3 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload speed.
- For better performance, move the camera closer to the gateway or use Xfinity WiFi Extenders.

Getting started
- Sign in with your Xfinity ID.
- Xfinity app
- Go to Services.
- Select Activate more devices.
- Choose the camera.
- Xfinity Home app
- Select More.
- Pick Add a device.
- Select Xfinity Camera.
- Xfinity app
- Allow Bluetooth and Location Services on your mobile device (required).
- Select Get Started.
- Place the camera near an indoor power outlet. Select Next.
- If installing outside, plug the power adapter inside. See tips for outside installation.
- Connect the camera's Ethernet cable to the power adapter. Plug the power adapter into an indoor power outlet that is not controlled by a wall switch. Select Next.
- Make sure the adapter is visible and not blocked. Select I'm Ready. Let's Go!
- Wait for the camera to turn on.
- When the light blinks blue or white, select The Light is Blinking.
- If the light doesn’t blink, wait two minutes and try again.
- If still not blinking, select I Don't See the Light and follow the steps.
- Hold your phone near the power adapter while the system connects the camera. Select Next once connected.
- Name the camera location (for example, "Back Door") and select Next.
- If you have 24/7 Video Recording, select Turn On. Otherwise, select Leave Off.
- If you want sound for live and recorded video, select Turn On. Otherwise, select Leave Off.
- Microphones are only turned on if you turn them on. You can change your audio settings at any time from the camera's Settings screen. Read the privacy policy.
- Place the camera on a flat surface or mount it to a wall. Select Finish.
- Do not mount your indoor cameras outdoors.
- Select the camera.
- Xfinity app: Select the Home tab. Then, select the camera thumbnail.
- Xfinity Home app: Select the camera thumbnail.
- Check the live video and adjust the camera view.
You're all set! Your camera is now active and ready to use.
