Texts are a helpful way for Xfinity to communicate with you. Xfinity sends texts about your services, including appointment reminders, billing updates, outages, and customer satisfaction surveys. You can also interact with Xfinity’s virtual assistant through text (some responses may be AI generated).
Xfinity also sometimes sends information about new products and services through text. If you don't want Xfinity texts, it's easy to opt out. Review the information below for details.
Set up text messaging
Before you can get texts from Xfinity, you must add your phone number to your account. If you haven’t already added a phone number, you can do it in the Xfinity app or online.

Important: If you get a text from a phone number you do not know stating it’s from Xfinity, or making a suspicious request, like asking for your payment information, make sure you take steps to protect yourself from fraud before responding!
Tip: Add these phone numbers to your contact list so you know when Xfinity is texting you.
Opt out of Xfinity texts
Xfinity makes it easy to opt out of texts. You can opt out of texts about:
- Service interruptions.
- Account and identity.
- Billing.
- Appointments.
- Customer support.
- Marketing.
- Surveys.
To stop getting texts* you can:
- Reply STOP to any text from Xfinity to opt out of all texts and automated calls.
- You may then get a response text that gives you different options for limiting the texts you no longer want to receive — for example, reply 1 to opt out of texts related to a particular outage, or reply 2 to opt out of texts related to all outages. If you do not reply, you will be opted out of most texts and automated calls.
- Unsubscribe at xfinity.com/donotcontact.
There are a few important things to remember about opting out:
- *There are some texts, including, but not limited to, those about emergencies, fraud or other violations of law, security issues, and harm caused to the network, that you cannot opt out of. Additionally:
- Xfinity Mobile customers cannot opt out of important alerts about using their services internationally.
- The only way to manage Xfinity Home alerts sent through text is through the Xfinity Home app.
- If you reply STOP to a text from Xfinity, you will be opted out of automated calls and texts from Xfinity.
- If you are an Xfinity and Comcast Business customer, and you use the same phone number for both accounts, replying STOP to a text from Xfinity or Comcast Business will opt you out of automated calls and texts from both Xfinity and Comcast Business.
- If you reply STOP to 73-448 (X1 Sports texts), you will continue to receive other Xfinity texts. To stop receiving them, simply reply STOP to 266-278.
- You may continue to get texts for up to ten business days after opting out, while Xfinity processes your request.
