Program an Accessibility Shortcut on your Xfinity Voice Remote

This article provides instructions on how to program an Accessibility Shortcut on your Xfinity Voice Remote. Depending on your remote type, this can be done with two presses of the B button, or by pressing the asterisk (*) button once.

Programming an Accessibility Shortcut (remote with a B button)

1. Press and hold the Microphone button on your Voice Remote and say “accessibility settings” to reach the Accessibility Settings menu.
   • You can also press the B button on your Voice Remote.
     • If your Voice Remote is flat on each end:
       • The B button is located just above and to the left of the number 2 button.
       • The Microphone button is two rows up from the OK button in the center of the Voice Remote.
     • If your Voice Remote is angled at each end:
       • The B button is located above the right arrow button on the directional arrow pad.
       • The Microphone button is directly below the down arrow button on the directional arrow pad.
2. Use the down arrow button to go to Remote Shortcut, then press OK.
   
   
   
3. Use the up and down arrow buttons to select the function that you want to assign to the Accessibility Shortcut (Closed Captioning, Audio Description or Voice Guidance), then press OK.
   • By default, the shortcut is set to Voice Guidance.
4. You’re all set! Now you can simply press the B button on your Voice Remote twice to use your Accessibility Shortcut.

Programming an Accessibility Shortcut (remote with an asterisk (*) button)

1. Press the asterisk (*) button on your Voice Remote once.
   
   
   
2. Select Yes.
   
   
   
3. Select Accessibility Settings.
   
   
   
4. Select Shortcut Button.
   
   
   
5. You’re all set! Simply press the asterisk (*) button on your Voice Remote to use your Accessibility Shortcut.

Xfinity Voice Remote notes

• There are three versions of the Voice Remote with slight differences in button placement.
  • Learn more about the different Voice Remotes.
• The XR15 and XR11 Voice Remotes have a B button.
  • The B button is a small, square button located just above the number 2 button on the XR11 remote and above the right arrow button on the XR15.
• On the XR11, the Microphone button is the third button up from the OK button in the center of the Voice Remote.
  • On the XR15, it's a larger, round button located in the center of the remote below the directional arrow pad.
• The XR16 Voice Remote has an asterisk (*) button:
  • The Accessibility Shortcut can be programed on the XR16 remote by pressing the asterisk (*) button once.
  • If the asterisk (*) button is pressed twice, Voice Guidance is enabled by default.
