Voicemail menu — Xfinity Voice help

Using voicemail with Xfinity Voice is easy. See the details below for the menu options for your home phone.

Manage the voicemail phone map

Click the voicemail menu to view the available options and their descriptions or dial *99 on your home phone to access voicemail

Main menu

Keypress Description
1 Review all messages.
2 Send a message to another Xfinity Voice voicemail box.
4 Change the personal options.

Restart the session.

  • This signs you out of the voicemail box.
  • The session returns to the point where you just called the voicemail access number.

Review messages marked for deletion.

  • This option is useful to recover messages deleted in error.
  • This is only available during the voicemail call when the message was deleted. Once you exit the system by hanging up or logging out (option 5 above), all messages marked for deletion are removed from the server. They can’t be recovered.
  • Log in to the mailbox and begin deleting messages to access this option.

Play the phone number of the mailbox being accessed.

  • This is useful when there is more than one line and you are not sure which voicemail box is being accessed.
* Disconnect the call.

Listen to messages menu

This is option 1 in the main menu. It gives the options you can take after listening to a message.

4 Replay the message.

Listen to the message envelope. The message envelope contains the:

  • Date
  • Sender’s phone number (if available)
  • Message length.

Forward the message to another Xfinity Voice voicemail box along with your message.

The message cannot be forwarded to a voicemail box belonging to another carrier. (See the Send Messages Menu for more details.)

Delete the message.

Restore an accidentally deleted message using Option 6 on the Main Menu. After the call is disconnected, all deleted messages are permanently lost. They can’t be recovered.

8 Reply to the message if it was left by another Xfinity Voice customer. (See the Send Messages Menu for more details.)
9 Save the message.

Mark the message as unheard.

  • This is useful if you hear a message intended for another member of the household.
  • Marking the message as unheard turns on the stutter tone and message indicator light if the phone has it.
# Skip the message.
* Return to the Main Menu.

Options you can use when listening to a message.

Keypress Description
1 Rewind 10 seconds.
1–1 Return to the beginning.
2 Pause or play the message.
3 Fast forward 10 seconds.
3–3 Fast forward to the end.

Listen to the message envelope. The message envelope contains:

  • Date
  • Sender's phone number (if available).
  • Message length.

Delete the message.

  • Note: Restore an accidentally deleted message using Option 6 on the Main Menu. After the call is disconnected all deleted messages are permanently lost. They can’t be recovered.

Personal options menu

This is option 4 in the main menu. This gives you options to personalize or change your experience. It includes setting up and changing your greeting.

Administrative options

Keypress Description
1 Change the voicemail password.

Change the prompt level. You can pick:

  • Rapid: Doesn’t play a prompt when accessing voicemail.
  • Standard: Tells you to press 1–2 to hear new messages.
  • Extended.

Select the message detail playback options:

  • Press 1 to turn off or on the date and time announcement at the start of each message.
  • Press 2 to turn on the name announcement option at the start of each message.
    • If another Xfinity Voice customer who has recorded a name in the voicemail system leaves a message, that name plays.
  • Press 3 to toggle between the message and envelope information playback.
    • Activate the message playback option to play back the message.
    • Activate envelope information to play back the message details.

Change the Skip PIN settings.

  • Turn on the Skip PIN option to give anyone in the household access to voicemail. This means a password isn't needed.
  • Call the voicemail platform using *99 to skip entering the password. If you call in using your Xfinity Voice number, even from home, you will be asked for the password.

Change the automatic play settings.

  • Turn on the automatic play option to get voicemail messages to play right away, when entering the system.)

Set the mailbox language.

  • Select the default language for retrieving messages or administering the mailbox. You can pick English or Spanish.

Set the phone answering language.

  • Change the language callers hear when they leave a message. You can pick English or Spanish.
* Return to the Personal Options Menu.

Greetings

Greetings may be up to 90 seconds in length.

  • Press # after recording the greeting to let the system know that the recording is complete.
  • Review the new greeting after recording.
  • Press * to record the greeting again if you’re not happy with it. Press # to accept and use the recording.

Play the greeting with the number. Callers hear this greeting when you are not on the phone or you do not answer. This is also the default greeting that is played if no other greetings are set.

Callers hear the message: "Your call has been forwarded to an automatic voice message system. is not available. At the tone, please record your message. When you have finished recording you may hang up or press 1 for more options."

Play the greeting with the name. This option controls which greeting is used. The actual name recording is done through Option 3 of the Greetings Menu.

1–3

Play a personal greeting. Callers hear a personalized message instead of the default greeting with the number or name.

After recording the greeting:

  • Press 1 to replay or review the greeting.
  • Press * to record the greeting again.
  • Press # to save the greeting as it is.

Callers hear the message: "At the tone, please record your message. When you have finished recording you may hang up or press 1 for more options."

Turn on and record an extended absence greeting. Callers hear the recorded message but are not allowed to leave a message. This is useful if you are not going to check messages for an extended period of time.

When the voicemail box is accessed, a reminder plays asking if you want to turn off the extended absence greeting.

3 Record the name.

Play a separate greeting based on a greeting schedule. For example, the personal greeting plays on certain days and the alternate greeting plays on other days.

After recording the greeting:

  • Press 1 to replay or review the greeting.
  • Press * to record the greeting again.
  • Press # to save the greeting as it is.

The alternate greeting can also be recorded when setting up a scheduled greeting (option 6 of the Greetings Menu.)

Schedule when the personal or alternate greeting is to be played. The schedule is based on what time of the day the personal greeting should be played, both on weekdays and weekends. When this option is turned off, the personal greeting plays at all times.

Create a schedule:

  1. Press 1 to set up a schedule.
  2. Record an alternate greeting if it is not recorded.
  3. Set the weekday schedule start and stop times.
    • Press # at the first prompt to skip to the weekend setup if the personal greeting needs to be played on all weekdays.
  4. Times must be entered using either three or four digits. For example, "8–1–5" for 8:15.
    • If the time is entered as 1200, the user is asked to select pick noon or midnight.
  5. The scheduling system uses a 12-hour clock. Select AM or PM after entering the time.

Once you set up the schedule:

  • Accessing this option prompts a schedule update. The current schedule is not played back.
    • Press 1 to update the schedule.
      • If the schedule is currently turned off, updating it here activates it.
    • Press 2 to turn the schedule On or Off.
      • The greeting or schedule is not deleted if it is turned off. They are both still available for future use.
* Return to the Personal Options Menu.

Send messages menu

This is option 2 in the main menu. It gives the options to send a message to another Xfinity Voice customer’s voicemail.

  • Messages are delivered right to the voicemail box without having to call them. The phone does not ring.
  • The maximum length of a message is five minutes.
  • Once the recording is finished, you're asked for the destination mailbox. Send the recorded message to a person’s mailbox:
    • Enter the phone number of the mailbox the message is to be delivered to. Enter 10 digits. Be sure to include the area code and the phone number.
    • Press # to send the message.
      • After the message is sent to the first mailbox, you are asked if there are any other mailboxes you want to send the message to. Repeat the steps to send the message to the other mailboxes.
    • Press * to go back to the Main Menu.

Options you can use when recording or listening to a message.

Keypress Description
1 Rewind 10 seconds.

3 Fast forward 10 seconds.
3–3 Fast forward to the end.
5 Resume recording.
# Finish or end the recording.
* Return to the Main Menu.

Options you can use after entering mailbox

Keypress Description
# Send the message.
* Cancel or enter the destination again.
** Cancel or return to the Main Menu.
0–2

Mark the message as urgent.

If a message has been marked as urgent, press 2 again to remove the Urgent tag from the message.

Recover deleted messages menu

This is option 6 in the main menu. It gives the options you can use to restore messages deleted by mistake.

Keypress Description
9 Mark it as a new or unheard.
# Skip to the next.
* Cancel or return to the Main Menu.
0–4 Replay the message.
0–5 Listen to the message envelope.
