Lock programs by time with X1 Parental Controls

Time Locks let you set parental controls to lock all program viewing between certain hours on certain days. For example, you can lock your Xfinity X1 TV Box from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM, from Monday through Friday. Learn how to set up and manage parental control Time Locks with X1.

To turn Time Locks on or off, you'll need to set up your Locks PIN first. See Setting Up Your Locks PIN to find out how.

Turn time locks on and off

  1. Press the xfinity button on your remote control.
  2. Using the right arrow button on the remote, highlight Settings. Press the OK button.

  3. Use the down arrow button to highlight Parental Controls. Press OK.

  4. If you've already set up a Parental Controls PIN, you'll be prompted to enter your four-digit Locks PIN. Use the number buttons on the remote to enter your Locks PIN.

  5. Use the down arrow button to highlight Day and Time Locks. Press OK.

  6. Starts is already highlighted. Press OK to set the start time for the lock.

  7. Use the arrow buttons to set the start time:
    • Arrow up or down to set the start hour.

    • Right-arrow to the minutes setting. Then arrow up or down to set the start minutes setting in any five-minute increment (:05, :10, :15, etc.).

    • Right-arrow to the am/pm setting. Then arrow up or down to set the start time to am or pm.

    • Press OK.
  8. On the Day and Time Locks screen, right-arrow over to Ends. Press OK.

  9. Use the arrow buttons to set the end time:
    • Arrow up or down to set the end hour.

    • Right-arrow to the minutes setting. Then arrow up or down to set the end minutes setting in any five-minute increment (:05, :10, :15, etc.).

    • Right-arrow to the am/pm setting. Then arrow up or down to set the end time to am or pm.

    • Press OK.
  10. Use the down arrow button to highlight the first day of the week you want to lock. Unlocked days show a grey open lock. Press OK, then repeat for any additional days.

  11. The days you select will show a closed blue lock.

  12. Press Exit to go back to standard TV viewing.
